A few years ago I wrote about how the Citi PremierPass Elite card makes me smile every time I use it. Well, unfortunately I was forced to stop using it since my beloved card no longer exists.  It must have been too good because Citi scrapped it!

However, I am happy to report that Citibank recently replaced my card with one that still makes me smile for many reasons.  So here’s why the Citi ThankYou Premier Card remains a top choice in my wallet:

1.) I’ll still earn 1 point for every mile I fly on any airline. Of course, this is in addition to the points I earn per dollar spent. What other card allows you to rack up points for the miles you fly on any airline plus what you spend?

2.) There are no foreign transaction fees. This

Through August 31, 2011, PenFed is running a promotion where you’ll receive 5x points on all hotel and dining purchases with your PenFed Premium Travel Rewards Amex. That’s in addition to the 5x points that you normally receive on airfare purchases.

Through June 30, 2011, you can also transfer balances fee-free at 4.99% for the life of the balance.

It’s not planned yet, but I’m not too stressed out about it. I’ve been saving for a trip little by little every week, and have enough Continental OnePass miles to get me a round-trip ticket to pretty much anywhere the airline flies.

I don’t fly more than a few times a year. I have been accumulating the miles from traveling with Continental for years, but part of why I have so many miles is because I frequently use the Chase Continental MasterCard. I get a point for each dollar I spend, and double the points for each dollar I spend when buying a Continental flight.

I often use the card for regular purchases to get the miles and then pay off the balance right away.

Dear Creditnet: I’m currently receiving collection notices from American Express for an unpaid balance on an old corporate credit card. I left the company where I had this card in late 2011.

I have combed through all my Amex bills, corporate expense reports and reimbursements, but I’ve been unable to find any unpaid charges on the card.

In addition, because the card was in my name and I incurred all the charges, my former employer takes no responsibility for the unpaid balance even though the charges were made solely for work purposes.

Will this affect my personal credit? What should I do now?

Answer: This is a difficult situation, but it’s not one that American Express is unaccustomed to handling. Belie

Chapter 7 bankruptcy is legal protection from your creditors.  It’s for individual consumers and is also known as “liquidation”, because the debtor has to sell assets to pay off debts.  The assets not exempt from bankruptcy are luxury items, household items, real estate, cars and boats. The debts not discharged are child-support and alimony back payments, criminal fees, federal taxes, government student loans, and mortgage liens.  Any loans that have a cosigner may be liable for the debt.

Qualification for Chapter 7 is based on ie, which must be less than your state’s median ie.  It is calculated by a “means test” using ie and expenses and is fairlyplicated.  Usually a person selects chapter 7, because they don’t have any assets to lose or has little property except the basics such as furniture and clothing. They have very lit
