Cash Back Rewards

The American Express Blue Cash is a tiered rewards card. Based on 12 consecutive billing periods, the card pays 1% cash back on “Everyday Purchases” and 0.5% for all other “Eligible Purchases.” For Eligible Purchases of $6,500.01 or more, the rebate percentage is 5.0% for Everyday Purchases and 1.25% for all other Eligible Purchases.

So what’s an “Everyday Purchase” and what is an “Eligible Purchase?” Everyday Purchases are purchases made to buy gas, groceries or drug store items. Purchases at superstores or warehouse clubs do not qualify as Everyday Purchases. Eligible Purchases are charges to your account for goods or services that have not been returned or otherwise credited to your account. Eligible Purchases do not include finance charges, fees, cash advances or other means of accessing your account, convenience checks, balance transfers, or the purchase of American Express® Travelers Cheques and American Express® Gift Cheques or other cash equivalents.

Low APR

The Blue Cash card offers a 0% introductory rate on purchases for six months. Thereafter, the rate is variable and as low as the prime rate + 13.99%. Note that unlike some Amercian Express cards, the Blue cash is a credit card, not a charge card. As a credit card, you can choose to pay off the full balance every month to avoid finance charges, or you can pay your Blue Cash balance off over time.

Travel Service

The Blue Cash card also offers some exceptional travel services and protections. As a Blue Cash card member, you will have access to the American Express travel website, including competitive, low prices on airfare, hotel stays, car rentals, cruises, and last-minute deals.
